Rights and Freedoms

Protecting Ordinary Citizens and Promoting Democratic Accountability

Introduction:

The New Federation Party is dedicated to protecting the rights, freedoms, lives, and property of ordinary citizens. Our core objective is to promote democratic accountability, ensuring that the government remains transparent and responsive to the needs and aspirations of the Canadian people. We propose a comprehensive policy for "Rights and Freedoms" that encompasses these principles.

Key Objectives:

Protecting Rights and Freedoms:

We are committed to safeguarding the fundamental rights and freedoms of all Canadians, ensuring that they are respected, upheld, and protected without infringements by government or police. We plan limiting the powers of the police to serving the people only while mandating scope of service and duties to “serve and protect".

Promoting Democratic Accountability:

The party will work to enhance democratic accountability within the government, seeking to disband the Privy Council and explore options for disband the Senate or Senate reform, potentially through direct election by the Canadian people. Supreme and superior court judges will be vetted publicly and voted on by bipartisan special transparent committees from each province.

Policy Details:

1. Protecting Rights and Freedoms:

"Rights and Freedoms" policy aims to protect and uphold the fundamental rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens, including but not limited to freedom of expression, privacy, and due process. These rights will be defended at all levels of government.

The New Federation Party is dedicated to ensuring that all Canadians are treated with dignity and respect, and their rights are not infringed upon.

2. Promoting Democratic Accountability:

The party seeks to enhance democratic accountability by considering measures such as disbanding the Privy Council and reforming the Senate. These actions aim to make the government more transparent, responsive, and directly accountable to the Canadian people.

Options for Senate reform may include direct elections, increasing representativeness, and ensuring that the Senate aligns with the democratic values and aspirations of the Canadian public.

Conclusion:

"Rights and Freedoms" reflects our core objective of protecting the rights, freedoms, lives, and property of ordinary citizens and promoting democratic accountability within our government. The New Federation Party invites all Canadians to join us in this endeavor to safeguard the principles of justice, freedom, and democracy.
